About Me

Welcome! I hope you will enjoy your visit with Bella and I as we continue our quilting adventures. I have had a life-long passion for creating.  I began quilting in the 80's by doing the Georgia Bonesteel quilt-as-you-go method.  To this day I do love hand quilting, but the urge to get more done inspired me to try to machine quilt on my domestic.

I think my style has changed a bit over the years...I started out very traditional and love the reproduction fabrics, and scrappy quilts.  There is something so comforting about vintage looking quilts.  My home is filled with my quilts of course!

For a few years I started art journaling and I have found that I love it! Doodling and tangling are great fun! If your follow me on Instagram, you will see some of my art journaling attempts.  Much to my surprise, I was published in two books!

When I came back to my quilts, I found that my taste is changing somewhat.  I have been experimenting with brighter colors and while I do not think of myself as a modern quilter, I do love the new bright and geometric fabrics on the market.  So I have been experimenting with traditional quilt blocks and modern, bright fabrics.  I still love the reproduction fabrics, and always will.
In 2015, I decided to challenge myself to have a quilt that I had designed published.  Much to my surprise not only one quilt has been published but five have been published so far!  See what can happen when we challenge ourselves!  This year my challenge is to enter a juried quilt show...something I have always stayed away from.  So we shall see????

While the majority of my time is spent quilting, I do spend time with my very supportive husband, he is my biggest cheerleader!  We have an RV, and have plans to travel.  Lots of quilt shops out there to visit!

My intent with this blog is to share my creative journey...hopefully inspire you to create what is in your heart.  I believe that in the end, we will only regret the chances we did not take...no matter how old or young you are, your time is now! So do it!  Just trust the journey.....

grace and peace....Sharon Denney Parcel

  1. Oh Sharon, I'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through that! It does make you wonder why in the world that drug was ever approved. :( I'm so glad you are getting back to sewing and YES, I do still read blogs!
